Britain’s Got Talent has given many people the opportunity to shine, but few more deservingly than Loren Allred. On stage, the Brooklyn-born singer revealed that she in fact was the singing voice behind the character, Jenny Lind in The Greatest Showman’s song “Never Enough”, before giving her own greatest show.

After singing behind the scenes for so long, the 32-year-old’s decision to step forward into the limelight is one that the judges applauded. And having given an incredible performance, her place in the semi-final was secured thanks to Amanda Holden, who pressed the Golden Buzzer.

The Platinum-selling track was written by Broadway songwriters, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for the 2017 musical, The Greatest Showman, along with 10 other songs, including “A Million Dreams” and “This Is Me”. Although actress, Rebecca Ferguson, was intended to sing “Never Enough” in the box office hit, she decided that Loren gave a greater performance than she could, meaning the song was dubbed with Loren’s voice.

And Rebecca wasn’t the first person to recognise the vocalist’s extraordinary talents. In 2008, at just 19 years old, Loren was signed to the American record label, Island Def Jam Music after singer, Ne-Yo, spotted her talent on Youtube. Below is Loren singing “Never Enough” live with David Foster on PBS, fans have stated this is their favourite version of the song.

4 years later, Loren stepped onto the stage for the 3rd season of America’s Got Talent. The 2012 series sadly saw her eliminated after the first week of live playoffs, which Loren put down to not sharing her life story, unlike other contestants.

2 years later, The Greatest Showman journey began, with Loren being part of the recording lineup. The 2017 release, “Never Enough” reached number 88 on the Hot 100, whilst the Oscar-nominated and Grammy award-winning movie’s soundtrack reached number 1 in the charts for the UK, New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, Australia and US. It was also ranked #3 by Entertainment Weekly for being one of the “Best Songs from Movies of the 2010s”.

In 2019, Michael Bublé discovered Loren after watching The Greatest Showman and realised that Rebecca Ferguson wasn’t the voice behind the beautiful song. His Youtube search led him to Loren, and together, they sang ‘Help Me Make It Through The Night’ as part of Michael’s album, “Love”.

And in 2021, Loren joined Italian operatic tenor, Andrea Bocelli for selected performances during his tour across the USA, after first singing together in Saudi Arabia. Andrea referred to Loren as a “versatile musician raised in the arts” and was delighted to have the opportunity to sing together again.

In the same year, Loren released her debut 6-song album, “ Late Bloomer”. The first track, “This Summer”, is her love letter to anyone who’s felt lost as she did during the pandemic.

The critically-acclaimed vocalist and songwriter appears to be finding her feet away from the glamorous persona that came with the platinum-selling single, “Not Enough”. And rightly so. Loren is an incredibly talented artist who deserves to shine in her own light. And though her career may have been a rollercoaster to date, we can’t wait to see where she goes next.
